The Greater Accra Region has recorded the newest cases of the deadly Pneumococcal meningitis, head of Public Health Directorate at the Ridge Hospital Dr. Farida Abdullai has confirmed.
It remains unsure whether the three affected persons have died of the bacterial disease but Head of Public Health Directorate at the Ridge Hospital Dr. Farida Abdullai has revealed there is no cause for alarm. The epidemic which is feared to be spreading more than expected has further seen over 60 others seriously hospitalized following massive infections as health experts fear the recent strains remains most contagious and deadly than Cerebrospinal Meningitis.
So far, over 200 people have been infected with the disease across the nation. Meanwhile the general public has been advised not to panic and immediately report symptoms of the disease to the nearest hospital.
