Exciting Germany tennis star, Angelique Kerber stopped American super star, Serena Williams from her dream of equaling Steffi Graf’s collection of 22 Grand Slams on Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the Australian Open finals at the Rod Laver Arena.
It was Williams’ 26th Grand Slam final in her career but the second loss to Kerber who defeated her way back in 2012 in Cincinnati, although her record against Kerber going into the game stood better than her opponent (Serena had a 5-1 record against Kerber) and had won their last four matches.
Kerber defeated Williams in three sets to clinch the title in a tough game in which the young German displayed enough tenacity to stand the awesome record of the American.
