Murder suspect arrested in Bunkpurugu clashes

The Northern region police command has arrested one person, Tetteh Tanko on tip-off for allegedly murdering a 58-year-old farmer, Suapak Dupaak during renewed clashes in Bunkpurugu.

The 29-year-old Tanko is described by the police as a notorious criminal who has been on a police wanted list for also murdering one Baba Zoro in April last year during similar clashes in the town.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh who is the Northern region police PRO in confirming the incident to Graphic Online in an interview, revealed that the suspect was arrested two days after the incident.

It will be recalled that three persons were shot dead on Tuesday, January 26, in Bunkpurugu in the Northern Region following a renewed chieftaincy dispute. There was also a report of 35 houses being set ablaze by factions.

The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) says the area is under a 6am to 8pm curfew.
