Wenger expresses disappointment with January transfer window

Goal.com reports that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has admitted his disappointment at the lack of business done in the January transfer window.

Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal, said:  “The whole period was much quieter than I anticipated, the fact I’m here now shows we’ll still be quiet. If possible, I would have been open to one more but there is a rarity of players.”

According to the Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli have rejected Arsenal’s bid for Napoli midfielder Jorginho. The source reports that the Gunners have been eyeing the 24-year-old for some time and was hopeful of making him their second signing.

According to the Metro, Arsenal are set to make an improved offer for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell on the final day of the January transfer window after having an initial bid rejected.

Arsenal reportedly wants £44.6 million for Aubameyang following his sensational scoring record of 24 goals in 23 games this season.

However, he told reporters: “I don’t want to go to Arsenal. I won’t leave Dortmund soon.”

Aubameyang expressed joy at winning the trophy after beating off competition from Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Swansea City’s Andre Ayew.

Arsenal signed only defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel. Speaking on his first appearance for arsenal in the FA Cup against Burnley, Wenger noted:  “His first performance was very good. He made plenty of passes but needs to adapt.”
