Illegal miners invade AngloGold concession in Obuasi

Illegal miners  in Obuasi have taken over a concession of mining giant, AngloGold following disagreement with  security officials of the company on Tuesday, February 2.

The supposed illegal miners, who also double as youths of the area have accused the management of AngloGold of breaching an agreement with government which stipulates that a portion of the mining land be granted to them - a development which the organisation seriously denies.

In the meantime, the impasse is documented to have seen dozens of military men brought from Kumasi to ensure peace and security in the area.
