Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says Muslims should shun terrorist groups as ISIS

Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the only way by which peace could prevail in Ghana is when Muslims choose to live at peace with their  fellow Christians.

Speaking at the 9th Annual UDS GMSA Congress in Tamale, Dr Bawumia expressed the need for tolerance especially when the November 7th elections was fast approaching.

"I urge Ghanaian Muslims to continue to co-exist peacefully with the Christian Community as Islam itself, by Scripture, is very tolerant of Christianity and since that is the surest way to remaining a united, politically stable Nation," he pleaded

Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia has charged all Muslim youth to be bold and speak up against ills in society and also eschew religious radicalism and terrorism

I called on all to speak out against groups like ISIL, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram, which have hijacked the Religion of Peace and are committing dastardly acts and for us to also speak out against other evils like Corruption that hamper our development,” he expressed.

The comments by Dr Bawumia follows recent concerns of Ghana's security especially between Muslims and Christians with the contemporary (though distant) reference to the attack on residents of Agogo by Fulani herdsmen at Agogo- a development which has claimed lives and destroyed property.
