- Essien reported of the burglary via his twitter account
- The incident happened on Wednesday
- The player says he will remain strong after a bad week which saw his team lose 1-0 to Xxanthi at home
Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien’s residence in Athens was burgled last Wednesday.
The Panathinaikos star confirmed the news on his twitter page but failed to give details of the robbery attack and whether he lost valuables in the raid.
Essien summed it up as his first bad week in the Greek capital following his side’s 1-0 home defeat to Xanthi. Panathinaikos has seen some resurgence with the inclusion of the experienced midfielder who has brought some stability in their play.
The club after mutually parting ways with Yannis Anastasiou, are now breathing some life in their play with new coach, Andrea Stramaccioni.
Panathinaikos lost 1-0 to Xanthi at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, the home grounds of Panathinaikos.
Essien posted on his official Twitter page: "Experienced my 1st bad week in Athens. My home burgled on Wednesday & defeat on Saturday.#iamasurvivor.looking fwd to new week. The strong will always survive.
Essien is having a good run of regular play with his club in the Greek league where has been on a good form. His fine form has seen some Turkish clubs entice him away from Panathinaikos but the former Chelsea player has denied any such move.
