- Sports Minister designate, Nii LAntey appears before vetting committee Monday
- He assures the committee he will fight the mafia system at the ministry.
- The Sports Ministry has seen over 10 ministers in the last 15 years.
Minister designate for Sports, Edwin Nii Lantey took his turn at the vetting committee Monday and said that he was prepared to face the so-called mafia at the ministry “head-on”
If there is a mafia, I am ready to face that mafia head-on,” he stated before the vetting committee.
Ghana’s Sports Ministry in the last years has seen over seven ministers. The difficult nature of the work at the ministry has led many Ghanaians in believing there is a cabal operating in the ministry.
But the Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio Constituency says he believes he will succeed at the
Sports Ministry .
Mr. Vnderpuije also proposed that maintenance of the stadia in Ghana should be out-sourced to private people.
“The National Sports Authority must concern themselves with the development of Sports in Ghana and the maintenance of the Stadia must be outsourced to the estate agencies...and people with requisite knowledge,” the Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo constituency said.
Vanderpuije also indicated his willingness to implement the Maputo committee report.
The former GBC sports broadcaster is the 14th politician appointed to head the Sports Ministry in the last 15 years.
