A man suspected to have been attacked and left to die in a tomb at Caju, in a Brazilian cemetery has been discovered alive.
The 33-year-old man, only known by his initials VSFM, had apparently been attacked and thrown down the tomb where his assailants believed he would die eventually.
Family members of another dead person who had gathered to pray beside his grave found blood stains around the edge of the dying man’s tomb and raised an alarm for rescue officers who were called.
They arrived and opened up the tomb to find the man alive but severely injured.
He had visible wounds on his body and was quickly rushed to the nearby Ferreira Machado Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, Caju police have confirmed they are carrying out an attempted murder investigation and will bring to book, the perpetrators.
