- The NPP has also called on government to put an end to the culture of serial killings in the country
Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay is demanding for a thorough and professional investigation into the murder of its Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North constituency Joseph Boakye Danquah.
In a press release signed by him, Freddie Blay revealed the need for all persons caught up in the murder of the legislator to be severely dealt with as government also puts the right security in place to prevent future occurrences.
"It is our hope that a professional and swift investigation will be carried out, so that the perpetrators of this horrible crime will be made to face the full rigours of the law. We call on all to avoid any form of unnecessary and possibly harmful speculation at this time. We also call on the government, in the light of a long list of such incidents in recent times, to take a critical look and revise its policies and strategies towards the growing levels of insecurity and unsolved murders in the country," the statement issued
The Ghanaian opposition legislator was the grandson of late J.B Danquah, a Ghanaian statesman, pan-Africanist, scholar and historian, who played a significant role in pre- and post-colonial Ghana.
Danquah was a chartered accountant and a deputy women and children’s affairs minister under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration. He would have been 51 in July. He left behind a wife and two children.
