-17 farmers have been arrested for possessing Indian Hemp
- The arrest was premised through a dawn swoop by the police
- 15 out of the 17 farmers have been arraigned for the courts
Police at at the Eastern Region have arrested about 17 persons suspected to have in their possession 204 bags of Indian hemp.
The dawn swoop which was conducted at Apesika, a suburb of Ankama Electoral Area of the Kwahu East District is reported to have followed reports of undercover drug deals by the said farmers in the area.

This is our first time of embarking on such operational exercise in that area but once we have that much I can confidently say this is the work they do, the village comprises 21 houses and we almost retrieved the suspected substances from every house, the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah revealed.
The arrested farmers are expected to be arraigned before the courts on February 15th 2015 as police furthers investigations into the underground trade in illegal drugs in the said area.
