Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the current director general of the government's budget office, Yahaya Gusau.
Mr Buhari indicates that he sacked the director over his handling of the current budget proposal. The decision by Mr. Buhari also follows several questions that has been raised about the year’s budget.
First some documents got missing, hindering the Senate from deliberating over the budget and also accusations of some minister’s inflating their budget allocations.

Part of the problem was that the budget was rushed as it had to be submitted before 2016 – and some ministries filed late.It has already been recalled once to amend some obvious errors, so this is all an embarrassment for President Muhammadu Buhari.
MPs set a deadline of 25 February to pass it but given the problems it is not likely to happen till March. Nigeria’s parliament has to scrutinise and pass the budget before it can be implemented.
Mr. Gusau who has been in office for only six months prior to him relieving his post has since been replaced by Tijjani Abdullahi.
