- The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ordered the incumbent NDC to refund all monies related to the Smarttys deal.
- The opposition party has charged government for using taxpayers money for such a 'ludicrous' deal.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has charged the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refund all monies related to the deal with Smarttys Production over the re-branding of metro-mass buses.
Addressing a press conference in Accra, the opposition party argued that government would have to refund the tax payers money describing the deal as a clear case of bad governance, waste of taxpayers’ monies, corruption, non transparency and weak government response to corruption that has become typical in these seven years of NDC governance.
"The decision to rather put President Mahama's photos on the buses has not only deprived the poor taxpayer of good money, but also actually caused the taxpayer to pay out millions of Ghana cedis," the statement revealed.
