-The Bank of Ghana has denied claims of issuing new 100 and 200 cedi notes
- The claims follows media circulation over the purported notes
The bank of Ghana has denied issuing out new 100 and 200 cedi denominations as being circulated in the media.
There has been rumours circulating in the media that purports that the Central bank had issued new denominations - a development which has seen Ghanaians express shock and disapproval considering the economic hardships in the country.
The Bank of Ghana has not issued and has no plans of issuing any new denominations of the Ghana Cedi and categorically states that the stories circulating on social media to the effect that the Bank is issuing denominations of GH¢100.00 and GH¢200.00 are false, the statement insisted.
This is the second time in less than a year that the bank is reacting to such claims. A similar report making rounds with pictures of the supposed 100 and 200 denominations made rounds on social media in March last year.
The only notes that the Bank of Ghana issues are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cedi notes.
