A fatal accident at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region Wednesday evening has claimed over 63 lives according to report.
The accident which involved a Kumasi bound Metro Mass bus collided head on with a truck carrying tomatoes believed to be traveling from Navrongo.
The incident which occurred 8:00pm Wednesday night also saw several of the passengers trapped in the mangled bus as the locals struggled to cut the vehicles to retrieve the dead and those alive.
Meanwhile the Kintampo Divisional Commander, Chief Supritendent Desmond Owusu Boampong said, “a lot of the passengers have been conveyed to the morgue, but I'm not in a position to give you numbers until the operation is over."
It is, however unclear the number of people who survived this or accident.
President John DRamani Mahama in a series of tweets commiserate with the families of the dead ones and expressed his condolence and sympathises.
“Very sad news” in a Tweet and Facebook post, Mahama assured that the “emergency services working to attend to injured passengers.”
