Student drowns on his birthday

A final year student of the University of Education (UEW), Winneba has drowned on his birthday. The sad incident comes after, the student opted to go to the beach to celebrate his birthday, which fell on Saturday.
The deceased by name, Bright Osei-Agyei is reported to have gone to the Sir Charles beach in Winneba, with friends at about 16:00GMT on Saturday.
According to a friend of the deceased by named, Timothy, he told myjoyonline.com that after several rounds of swimming, they all retired to the shore but after a while, Bright decided to go swim again while his friends watched on. Eye witness recounts that a short time after he jumped into the water, they noticed their colleague was struggling and had raised his hand beckoning for help.

Osei-Agyei was shouting, but his friends could not swim to the distance Bright had found himself, to rescue him. They called on some fishermen at the beach for help but all hopes to save their friend was shattered as he was washed away out of sight before anyone could reach to save him.
His body was washed ashore at the fishing harbour end of the beach on Sunday afternoon with skin around his eyes had peeled off.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital and his family has been informed of their son's death.
Bright Osei-Agyei, was a level 400 student reading Business Administration and in his early 20's.
