- Deputy general secretary of the party, Nana Obiri Boahene argues the current decision by EC boss Charlotte to constitute a Steering Committee ahead of the elections was baseless.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has argued that former head of the Electoral Commission (EC) Dr Afari Djan was far more better than the current one, Charlotte Osei.
According to the party, the recent decisions made by the EC Chairperson shows that she is still below the comparison of Dr Afari Djan especially considering the fact she is yet to oversee the general elections scheduled for November 7th.
“As for the present EC boss, she is a pale shadow of Dr. Afari Gyan; comparatively, Dr Afari Gyan was better,” Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene revealed in an interview with CitiFM
Commenting on the legal motive behind the putting of the much controversial Steering Committee of the party, Nana Obiri Boahene argued over the usefulness of the committee stating, "that the EC can decide to, as it were, hand over all functions of the EC as spelt out in the constitution to the Steering Committee. Who cares?”

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has asked the public to disregard media reports claiming that the Steering Committee has been suspended. According to the EC in a statement signed by Director of Public Relations at the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu Parry “the Commission wishes to inform the public that the reports are erroneous and should be disregarded”.
