- Akaminko and Red Salt Lake trained for two weeks
- RSL were eager to sign the Ghanaian who had impressed them
Black Stars defender Jerry Akaminko’s much touted move to MLS side, Real Salt Lake fell through after the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
The player is said to have done very well and RSL were eager to have him in their fold both sides were unable to come to agreement.
RSL General manager, Craig Waibel says they were desperate to sign Akaminko but got disappointed that they could not agree to terms of the contract.
The Ghana centre-back had spent the last couple of weeks with the MLS club on trials during the pre-season in Arizona and even went on to play two friendlies.
He impressed the technical team who offered him a contract even before the second game.
However the two parties could not reach an agreement which has resulted in the deal being called off.
"We couldn't agree to terms," Waibel said.
"We definitely wanted him and he definitely had a lot of interest being here, but in the end, MLS contracts are interesting — especially on a world market for a player like him. There were terms in the end that we just couldn't get to."
