- Presbyterian moderator, Professor Emmanuel Martey has accused the EC boss for engaging in empty arguments with the public
- The moderator argues that the EC would rather have to address the issues regarding to the electoral role
Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Professor Emmanuel Martey has accused the Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei for quickly commenting publicly over concerns raised by political groups over the impending general elections.
Commenting on the EC's decision to come up with a steering committee - a development which has attracted severe national controversy, the moderator argues the EC would have to rather tackle the electoral issue rather than actively indulge in public debates.
“The chairperson of the Electoral Commission… talks too much. She must work behind the scenes, she should not come and answer all queries; she should really minimize her mistakes. This is very important. You cannot appoint a committee without a thorough search on their background," he stated
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has asked the public to disregard media reports claiming that the Steering Committee has been suspended. According to the EC in a statement signed by Director of Public Relations at the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu Parry “the Commission wishes to inform the public that the reports are erroneous and should be disregarded”.
