- The comments of the mayor is said to be aimed against the LGBT community in Indonesia
There has been a heated debate over the impact of instant noodles on the sexuality of babies in the Indonesian city following remarks by the mayor of the city, Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah, that instant noodles make babies turn gay.
The controversial mayor at a pregnancy seminar in the city west of Jakarta argued that children’s formula is making babies gay.
‘To create Indonesian children that are healthy smart and competitive, the most important thing is, from the beginning, to provide them adequate nutrition, especially breastfeeding. So, it’s no wonder that recently there are more LGBT," Mr Wismansyah said, according to Indonesian news website Okezone.
The public statements by the Mayor is feared to have raised grave criticisms from the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community of Indonesia as they argue the mayor indirectly meant to speak down on the community. In the meantime, Indonesia happens to be one of the countries in the world with laws against same-sex attractions and marriages.
