Controversial reggae artist and former radio presenter, Blakk Rasta, has been made a tourism Ambassador  for Zimbabwe.

The honour was made by the Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, who celebrated his 92nd birthday over the weekend. Readers are reminded that Black Rasta was one of the many guests to perform at the  7 th edition of the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA).

The awards ceremony which  was  scheduled for 25th of February 2016, was  held at the Harare International Conference Centre. The Barack Obama singer  also headlined a concert in honor of His Excellency President Robert Mugabe. The concert, dubbed “Well Done Bob"  featured some of Zimbabwe’s biggest musicians.

In one of his posts on social media, Blakk Rasta who got the opportunity to tour Zimbabwe after his concert noted that  he visited  the Great Walls of Zimbabwe and  saw the walls, which reminded him of a piece of our history.

"I shed tears  at our ingenuity and creativity.. rock building on rocks with no mortar".

It is unclear how Blakk Rasta was selected to perform in Zimbabwe, but we can deduce that his open support for President Robert Mugabe could have influenced the decision to have him in Zimbabwe for 2 very important events in the life of every Zimbabwe. Blakk Rasta to show his love and support to Mugabe has a song titled “Mugabe”, which eulogizes Robert Mugabe.

Though details are not clear on what exactly his role as tourism ambassador for Zimbabwe will be, Blakk Rasta says that there would be an official ceremony  at the Ministry of Tourism in Harare on Monday.
