The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaa, has confirmed the death of DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni.
In an interview with Joy news, ACP Abass Abaa confirmed the news adding that the entire force in the Eastern region is shocked to the core by the news of his demise. He noted that the former Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni, died at the Police Hospital in Accra on Monday morning after a short illness.
He described him as a man who imparted his his dynamism, his frankness, his utmost honesty on all who worked with him at the Easter Regional command.
DCOP Awuni was noted for standing for the truth by fighting against corruption with all his zeal and might. He also described him as a man who spoke his mind to anyone bluntly, once the person went wrong or fell foul to the law. ACP Abaa added that, it would be difficult for the police force to find a man of DCOP Awuni’s kind in the force.
DCOP Awuni was Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department at the Headquarters before becoming the Eastern Regional Police Commander in the last reshuffle of senior police officers.
