- President Mahama challenges NPP flagbearer to a public debate
- Mahama accuses Nana Addo of making contentious issues he will wish to clarify
-The NPP’s flagbearer and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have consistently rubbished achievements of President Mahama and the NDC government
President John Dramani Mahama has thrown a challenge to debate flagbearer of the biggest opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to the president of the republic, the NPP's Nana Addo has made a lot of contentious commends and will relish every opportunity to face off his main contender in the November polls.
“…Indeed he’s [Nana Akufo-Addo] made a lot of contentious statements that I would have wished that you had him here, so that we would debate those issues, but essentially our parties are involved in agreeing the format of the debate, who organises it and all that, and, so, it’s not for me to say.

“I’m sure that the NDC party at the appropriate time, if they are invited to debate, will have to take a decision on whether they feel comfortable with whoever is organising the debate and all that...but, like I said, I’m willing, even this afternoon, if Nana presented himself, to take him on all those contentious statements that he’s made,” Mahama told TV3 in an interview Monday morning.
