A Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded in custody Mathias Ahobre for causing harm to a friend with acid.
Ahobre, 36, who works as a security man accused his friend Baba Musah for camping his girlfriend in his room.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court that on February 27, the accused on suspicion that his friend was involved in an amorous relationship with his girlfriend, approached Baba and hurled accusations against him but his friend denied and went back to sleep.
According to the police, while Baba was sleeping, Ahobreh forcefully entered his room and attacked him where he inflicted the acid burns on him around 11pm.

Ahobreh immediately went into hiding after the incident and was later arrested by the police with the help of some local residents.
The acid attack, according to Inspector Amponsah has been on the rise and his outfit are not going to relent in their efforts to see to it that culprits are brought to face the full rigours of the law.
He urged victims not to shy away from reporting such incidents.
The court remanded Ahobre to reappear in court at a later date for hearing to continue.
