-Fuel prices are to be increased across the country effective today
- The increment follows the increase of fuel prices on the world market from below $30/barrel to over $36/barrel
Fuel prices across the country will be increased effective today, March 17 2016 following hikes in crude oil prices world-wide.
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana has in a statement revealed that the increment is in response to hikes of prices on the global scene.
“Activities and movements in world market prices, which have gone up in the past two weeks, from below $30/barrel to over $36/barrel as of Wednesday, has resulted in an upward adjustment of pump prices across the various bdcs,” the Chamber has revealed.
Increment in fuel prices comes barely four months after petroleum products got increased by about 30% following the passage of the Energy Sector Levy - a move aimed at enabling government clear its debts.
Meanwhile the Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Duncan Amoah, revealed that customers should expect the hikes to take place at the pumps effective today.
“We are looking at moving from some 14.72 pesewas currently to about 15.26, 15.46 levels depending on the OMCs…By Thursday morning, most of the fuel stations who buy from BDCs would have effected these changes at the pumps…,” he stated.
The hike in fuel prices is expected to plummet the price of goods and services in the country.
