Minister for Interior, Prosper Douglas Bani has declared Friday, March 25 and Monday, March 28 2016 as statutory public holidays ahead of the Easter festivities.
A statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC) wishes to remind the public that, the holidays mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively. The statement which was signed by the Sector Minister Mr. Bani, therefore asked that the days be observed as such throughout the country.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is a public holiday. It falls just before Easter Sunday, which is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the March equinox. The holiday is thus observed by Christians all over the world.
