As Christians across the world join in the celebration of Palm Sunday, YEN.com brings you the most creative ways you can personally make the best out of the very palms you use in commemorating the symbolic entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem.
1. Put them in a beautiful vase
After returning home from Palm Sunday Mass, never think of throwing the palms away, you can actually put them in a vase just like flowers so they stay green and fresh in the vase for as long as cut flowers will. This way, you can enjoy them for awhile in their true palm form, and still make something out of them later in the week.
2. Remember the death of Jesus with it
Just in their straight form, you can choose to create a cross that speaks to you of the death of Jesus as it stays out all year round in your home. The crosses are a lot more manageable. You can get them to dry out nice and flat by placing them under a book for a few days (think pressed flower). After all, it's Palm Sunday!
3. Go Romantic
Ever thought of crafting palm roses? They’re small, cute, and it’s a little bit of different. Adding a romantic touch to such a day s much more relaxing, is it not?
4. Craft the heart of Jesus
If you take one of the palms that isn’t separated yet you can craft the heart of Jesus with it. Split each side down the middle using your fingernail (4 pieces total still connected at the bottom) and make fold one of the “paper springs” on each side. Tie the palms together at the top to make a heart shape. Allow it to dry out laying flat in a heart shape.
5. Braid your favourite hairstyle with it
You can also split the palm into 3 strips (but not quite all the way!) and braid the strands together. Tie a knot at the end.
