Marsha Gay Reynolds, a former Miss Jamaica World 2008 second runner- up finalist has been arrested for possessing 70 pounds of cocaine in her carry-on-luggage.
Ms. Reynolds who doubles as a flight attendant JetBlue flight is reported to have removed her Gucci heels and ran away from security at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday. She is reported to have run away after the authorities insisted on searching her carry-on bag, leaving abandoned $3 million worth of white powder, suspected to be cocaine.
Despite her running away, Ms. Reynolds was later arrested at the Kennedy Airport. The U.S. attorney’s has since charged her with cocaine possession with intent to distribute. She surrendered to federal authorities at the Queens airport and is expected to be in Federal Court in Brooklyn on Thursday.
Authorities said Transportation Security Administration officials asked Reynolds, who was wearing jeans, heels and a black suit jacket and carrying her “known crew member badge,” to step aside for a random security screening Friday at LAX.
Reynolds, about to board a LaGuardia-bound flight, dropped her bags, slipped out of her Gucci heels and ran barefoot down an up escalator. Federal officials say It was not immediately clear if the 31-year-old Reynolds had been high in the sky the whole time she was on the lam or even how she reached New York.
Upon opening the bag, the LAX police found 11 packages of cocaine wrapped in green cellophane and labeled, “BIG Ranch” inside one of the bags Reynolds had left behind, according to an FBI affidavit.
Mrozek , spokesperson for the airline hinted that prosecutors believe Reynolds was a runnerup in the Miss Jamaica World 2008 pageant.
