The Notre Dame Minor Seminary Secondary School at Navrongo in the Upper East region has lost one of its final year student to death.
The student whose name has been held by authorities is reported to have drowned to death in a dam on the school premises on Easter Friday.
The student, whose name authorities at the school are withholding because his family is yet to be informed about the tragedy, died shortly after the school had held the Good Friday sacrament.
Police in the area have confirmed the development.
Rumours were rife that the student committed suicide after he was punished by school authorities for an unknown offence but head teacher of the school Reverend. Father Francis Koledogo , in an interview with Starr News denied the rumours saying the school “does not punish students on Good Friday”.
Father Francis Koledogo added that the deceased and his two other colleagues went to swim in the dam against school rules when the sad incident happened.
The deceased is likely to be buried on Monday.
