BNI arrests MD over car-branding scandal

- The BNI has arrested a corporate leader over his alleged involvement in the branding of government vehicles with the emblem of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC)

- The arrest of the head of Granite and Marbles has also seen the arrest of two other suspects to the scandal

Managing Director of Granite and Marbles has been arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in connection with pictures taken which shows vehicles belonging to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) branded with the emblem of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).     

The said pictures have generated much controversy on Social media as a cross section of the public has accused government of abuse of incumbency ahead of the general elections

Meanwhile lawyers of the MD of Granite and Marbles have confirmed that two other security men have also been arrested as suspicions are rife of the photos being captured from the Managing Director’s company.

The police invited the MD demanding that he writes a statement. But after the Managing Director insisted otherwise, BNI officials picked him and the two others up.

Investigation are pending over the matter as efforts to get the emblems off the vehicles have begun.
