- Hearts came into the game as league leaders before Wa All Stars handed them a 3-1 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium to topple them
- Hearts could not stage a comeback after conceding the second goal and finally lost the game 3-1
Wa All Stars handed Accra Hearts of Oak their first defeat of the season after they inflicted a 3-1 drubbing of the Phobians at home on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Prior to the game, Kenichi Yatsuhasi’s men were leading the table with five rounds of games into the season and were buoyed with their FA cup over Wassaman last weekend.
The crowd was treated to an exciting game which saw both teams determined to register their superiority over the other.
In the 19th minute, Wa All Stars forward Kweku Asuandzi shot his side into the lead with a well executed goal.
Assuandzi beat an offside trap set by Hearts’ defense and coolly placed the ball beyond goalie Akurugu.
Hearts protested against the goal which also saw a section of their fans throwing bags of sachet water on to the field.
In the 35 minute Richard Arthur scored the second goal when he took advantage of a mix up in the Hearts of Oak defense.
Hearts pulled one back from recess through their burly striker Musah Ibrahim after 8 minutes from a brilliant play.
When all looked like a miraculous comeback from the Phobians in the offing just as they did in their last GPL encounter when they came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 over Inter Allies, Emmanuel Ocran scored the third goal to put the game beyond Hearts.
