Hearts of Oak fans throw bagged water on the pitch

Eric Owusu Mensah, a Kumasi based class one referee has branded Accra Hearts of Oak fans as ‘useless supporters’ who did not know what to do on a day the club needed their support most.

He spoke on Happy FM sports morning show on Monday as he blamed the club’s PRO, Mr  Opare Addo for not sensitizing the supporters that they were going to play their bogey side rather than blaming the referees for their woes.

Hearts officials had vehemently protested on Thursday against the choice of Ernest Baafi, the centre referee, Eric Owusu Ansah and Freeman Anwulo, Assistant referees one and two respectively who all hail from Kumasi.

They said, they had cause to believe that the referees were going to be biased against them when they play against the FA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi’s Wa All Stars in their sixth week GPL encounter.

Wa All Stars scored their first goal in the 8 minute from a seemingly offside position which made supporters of the Accra club throw bagged water on to the field.

Wa All Stars won the game 3-1 to inflict on Hearts their first defeat of the season.
