Smarttys Management and Production Limited has now refunded all the money overpaid it for branding and re-spraying of 116 intra-city buses.
It has paid a balance of GH¢548,608.04, representing the final payment of GH¢1,548,608.04, Grapic.com.gh reported on Monday.
Last year, investigations into the branding of 116 Metro Mass Transit Buses involving GH¢3.6million revealed that Smarttys over-billed the government to the tune of about GH¢1.9million.
The development provoked a public outcry which prompted the Minister of Transport, Dzifa Attivor, to resign in December.
The government subsequently reached an agreement with Smarttys for the company to return GH¢1,548,608.04 to government chest.
Although Smarttys has completed the refund, some Ghanaians still took to social media to express their displeasure at the government's failure to prosecute the company for what they described as fraud against the nation.
