Agnes Tei-Cudjoe, the Public Affairs Officer at WAEC told Citi News that their new security system will prevent among others the leakage of examination papers and also help detect cheating in objective questions.

The examination body said they want to carry out the message to school authorities, candidates and their parents to make candidates know that those who cheat in objective test and others who bring prepared answers from outside exam halls during the examination test will be detected by the software.

The council has been hit in the past with some security breaches leading to the leakage of some of its papers, the latest being the cancellation of the English, Integrated Science, Religious and Moral Education, Mathematics and Social Studies papers of the Basic Education Certificate Examination last year.
