Dr Mahama Bawumia, the running mate to the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been sharply criticised for allegedly disrespecting President John Mahama.
Dr Bawumia held the president on the left shoulder as they exchanged pleasantries at a social function last week.
Although President Mahama did not appear bothered by the gesture, some members of the public have accused Dr Bawumia of exhibiting arrogance towards the head of government.
Leading the charge is a prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter, Sayibu Hamza, who said Dr Bawumia's gesture typified "infected arrogance" on his part.
According to Mr Suhuyini, Dr Bawumia could have been respectful, but deliberately choose to be arrogant.
