A brain tumor patient, Mr John Newman, was turned away by the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday morning because of the closure of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Surgical Department.
Mr Newman had been on admission for the past two weeks but couldn't undergo surgery because the ICU was closed, a report by myjoyonline.com said.
The situation compelled doctors to place Mr Newman on medication and send him home.
According to the report, doctors acknowledge the Mr Newman requires urgent surgery because his condition is deteriorating by the day.
Several other patients who are in critical conditions have had their surgeries postponed until the ICU is operation, the report added.
