One shot dead, two injured in renewed chieftancy clashes in Sovie

One person has been shot dead in Sovie in the Volta Region after renewed chieftancy clashes there.

Two others also sustained injury, according to a report by Accra-based Citi FM.

Fabian Didzro-Mensah, 56, is reported to have been killed at about 1:30 am during an exchange of gunshots between two factions in a chieftancy dispute.

He was shot in the neck and in the left shoulder, but managed to mention the names of his assailants before he died at the Anfoegah Catholic Hospital, the police said.

The police have arrested four people in the connection to the killing and have intensified patrols in the area.

The police say they will also boost their presence there to avert reprisal attacks.
