Granny allegedly murders three-week-old baby in Cape Coast

The police have arrested a 38-year-old woman in Cape Coast for allegedly killing her three-week-old grand-baby.

TV3 reported on Thursday that the woman, Grace Amoah, and her 17-year-old daughter, Joyce Amoah, had had disagreements since the teenager got pregnant while still in Junior High School (JHS).

The report quoted Joyce as saying that when she delivered her baby, Madam Amoah who was also nursing a baby asked that she (mother) be allowed to be breastfeed the child so that the daughter could return to school.

Joyce said before she could respond to her mother's request, she woke up on Tuesday only to discover that the baby was nowhere to be found.

According to the report, when Madam Amoah could not provide an explanation as to the whereabouts of the baby, Joyce reported her to the police.

After interrogations, Madam Amoah led the Police to the outskirt of Akotokyer in Cape Coast, where the baby had been buried in a shallow pit, the report said.

The body of the baby was said to have been exhumed by the police and taken to the Cape Coast hospital for autopsy.
