The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has inaugurated a new millennium city school complex at the Salleria Cluster of Schools at Darkuman-Kokompe, a suburb of Accra.
The facility which is located in the Ablekuma North Constituency, is the 15th out of the 122 schools under the millennium schools project of the AMA funded by the World Bank under the Local Government Capacity Support Project.
The 18-unit classroom block within the three-storey school complex is disability friendly and comprises of science and computer laboratories, a library, washrooms and a kindergarten.
Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the CEO of the AMA, who spoke at the sod cutting ceremony, said the construction of the educational facility formed part of the government's commitment to support all assemblies to provide the needed infrastructure, such as educational facilities in the various MMDAs.
Present at the ceremony were the Accra Metro Director of Education, Mr Kwesi Hutchful and the MP for Ablekuma North, Hon Justice Joe Appiah who commended the assembly for making education a priority in its activities.
