The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is organising its primary in the Ablekuma West constituency to elect a candidate to represent the party in the parliamentary elections in November.
The Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is one of the few constituencies in the country the NPP is yet to conduct parliamentary primary following series of disagreements.
The National Executive Committee of the party approved the impending primaries following a resolution of a protracted legal battle over the exercise last year.
The contest is between incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, Roni Kwesi Nicol and Teo Tetteh.
Ursula Owusu in an interview with Yen.com.gh said she hopes to get the nod to continue with the business she already started in the constituency.
“I am relieved and very confident that victory is mine [today]. I am relieved because it is long and coming and I’m glad that we have a chance to finish preparatory work towards launching our campaign to retain the seat and maximize our votes for the flagbearer and hopefully win the general elections as well,” she said.
