With the Ablekuma West primaries of the opposition New Patriotic Party builds momentum, questions are rife over which candidate could lead the party come the parliamentary elections on November 7.
The two leading candidate, incumbent Ursula Ekuful and Roni Kwesi Nicole are noted to be locking horns in the elections as each one express high hopes of wining the primaries. But who could stand tall at the end of the elections?
Pollster and elections expert, Ben Ephson has shared his expert opinion on how he believes the primaries could go. In an interview with Radio Ghana, Ben Ephson stated that the incumbent member of parliament, Ursula Ekuful has the highest chances of winning the elections only if she garners the backing of supporters of all candidates who have backed out of the parliamentary primaries.
“The incumbent’s chances depends on the one who has dropped out – the side his supporters are going to support…I cannot comment on who will actually win but whoever will get the backing of the one who has dropped out will get the nod, when it comes to primaries of this nature, it is personal relationships and opinion leaders who can help,” he said in an interview on Radio Ghana.
Meanwhile Roni Kwesi Nicole is feared to be a fierce contender following his capacity to win the hearts of grass root supporters especially those of the younger generation. A win for him will see him lead the party in the parliamentary polls as one of the youngest parliamentary candidates in Ghana.
