Alfred Kofi Wokanya, a retired teacher of the Nkwanta Senior High School has been approved by the inhabitants of the Nkwanta South district as their new District Chief Executive (DCE).
Kofi Wokanya who was nominated by President John Mahama in November last following the killing of former DCE Peter Kojo Kenyenso had his confirmation delayed for several months due to some unresolved security issues in the area.
He polled 34 votes to secure the mandate of the 42 member assembly on Tuesday.
Mr. Wokanya’s confirmation comes barely two weeks after some aggrieved youth of the governing NDC went on protest in the area over what they called neglect for the appointment of a new chief executive for the area.
In an interview with media men after his approval, Mr.Alfred Kofi Wokanya promised to ensure all the tribes in the district live in peace and also work with all stakeholders to develop the district.
