Ghana’s government statistician position will be vacant come May 11.
This position has arisen as the current statistician, Dr. Philomena Nyarko is due for retirement on May 11 hence the need to search for a new government statistician.
Currently advertisements are out for applications from interested candidates though it is not clear if if any of her deputies are being considered for the position.
In an interview with Starr business, Dr. Nyarko expressed the hope that a competent person would be appointed to take over from her.
Dr. Philomena Nyarko took over in 2012 from Dr. Grace Bediako who did not finish serving her term of office.
Madam Philomena Nyarko is retiring at a time when the country’s inflation rate has been pegged at 19.2 percent, the highest since August 2009.
