A similar accident involving the presidential press corps in August last year killed Samuel Nuamah, a journalist with the Ghanaian Times.

The hired commercial bus carrying the media men and women skidded off the road and ran into the bush at Doryumu Junction near Shai Hills in the Greater Accra region, killing Nuamah and inflicting injuries on several others.
