The Accra District Court on Tuesday ordered the state to release Daniel Asiedu - the man accused of killing the former Member of Parliament (MP) of Abuakwa-North, JB Danquah-Adu - from the custody of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) into the custody of the police.
The decision came after prosecution told the court that they were almost done with investigations into the case, according to report by graphic.com.gh.
The judge, Mr Stephen Owusu, ruled that Asiedu had been held in BNI custody to enable investigations take place, but since that had almost been completed, there was not basis for the BNI to continue holding the suspect, the report said.
Accordingly, Asiedu is expected to be transferred into the custody of the police.
On 9th February, 2016 at about 1:00am at Shiashie, East Legon in Accra, he allegedly entered the bedroom of Mr Danquah-Adu and stabbed him to death.
