The 29-year-old scored four goals and set up three others, as Barcelona ended their three-game winless run, which had put their league tittle chances in jeopardy.

In doing so, Suarez broke the Brazilian Ronaldo's record of 47 goals in one season for Barcelona, which dated back to the 1996-97 season. He now has a massive 49.

He also ties with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in the number of hat tricks  scored this season - six.

As expected, social media erupted in joy at Suarez's beastly performance.
