A former Manchester City and Norwich City player, Ched Evans has won an appeal against his rape conviction on April 20, 2012 by a jury at the Carnarvon Crown Court who handed him a five year jail term for raping a 19-year-old girl.

Evans’ appeal was lodged after new evidence was discovered although the basis of the plea made to the Court of Appeal would not be made known.
It is not yet known whether there would be monetary compensation to the player who has since been unable to find a club and has yet to play competitive football.
