Linda Akweley Ocloo, the widow of late NDC parliamentary candidate for Shai-Osudoku, William Ocloo, says she will contest the position left vacant by her deceased husband.
Mrs Ocloo's decision comes a week after her husband’s burial.
She told myjoyonline.com that elders within the constituency came to her with a proposal to contest the seat.
Mrs Ocloo said she discussed the proposal with her eldest daughter, who told her to make their late daddy proud by stepping in on his behalf.
She dismissed criticisms that the timing of her announcement was not the best.
'There is no time to waste because I know Ocloo’s opponents are there campaigning. So the last thing I want to see is Ocloo crying because he really suffered for his people. I am mourning but the kind of insults that people are raining on me is unbearable. I am already receiving text messages from people within the party to step down.’’
