Residents of Akplabanya, a coastal community in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region have been rendered homeless following tidal waves in the Ada.

The ferocious tidal waves from high tides which began around 4pm on Sunday destroyed properties worth several thousands of cedis and also displaced hundreds of inhabitants.

According to Atinka News residents are some residents are seeking shelter along the main road and the chief's palace after the tidal waves. Some are also still clearing debris to resettle in an anticipation that the tidal waves do not happen again.

Brigadier General Zanziri, The National Coordinator of NADMO, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, the Greater Regional Minister, and Ade Coker, regional NDC Chairman have already visited the scene to ascertain the extent of destruction after the disaster.

Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Regional Minister, in an interaction with Nene Ankrah Kitcher Larbia Vl, the Chief of Akplabanya, after taking a tour of the community to acquaint himself with reality on the ground, promised relief items for affected people.

The desperate residents expressed disappointed in successive governments for refusing to find a lasting solution to the problem since such disaster keeps occurring annually for several decades.
