Producer inflation for March is 14.3%

The year-on-year inflation from the producer’s perspective for all industries was 14.3% in March 2016, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

Producer Price Index for manufacturing

This rate is 0.2% points lower than the 14.5% recorded in February 2016.

The monthly change rate for March 2016 was 0.8%.

The utilities sub-sector recorded the highest year-on-year producer price inflation rate of 43.4%, followed by the manufacturing sub-sector with 10.1%. The mining and quarrying sub-sector recorded the lowest year-on-year inflation rate of 6.9%.

With respect to the monthly changes, mining and quarrying recorded the highest monthly change rate of 1.6%, followed by the manufacturing sub-sector with 0.8%. The utilities sub-sector recorded the lowest inflation rate of -0.1%.

The Producer Price Index measures the average change over time in prices received by domestic producers for the production of their goods and services.
